Green Knoll Fire Memorial

The Green Knoll Fire Memorial pays tribute to the firefighting crews who battled the Green Knoll Fire that threatened southern Wilson. Horton Spitzer and John Mortensen created the memorial fund as a tribute to the community as well as to honor all those who fought the fire. A bronze fireman’s jacket hangs next to a plaque with the names of the people who fought the fire. Above the plaque and jacket are two bronze pine trees, representing the ecological damage of the wildfire.
