Silent Saddles

In 2005, the American Legion dedicated this memorial in honor of Bruce Porter and the Veterans of Post 43. Silent Saddles pays tribute to those in the ranching community who have served the United States. The memorial features a rider-less horse standing next to an American flag. Below is a panel with names and images of the 26 Jackson volunteers who enlisted in Cheyenne for service in WWI. “The strength, steadfastness and burden of this service are reflected in the piece,” Mortensen said.
