By nature’s design, cottonwoods and willows once lined this stretch of Flat Creek, a striated beauty now paved over (yet echoed in the groves that still grace nearby Karns Meadow). Masked no more: Seattle-based artist John Fleming has replanted nature at the center of this central man-made corridor. Willow Grove was generously funded by the LOR Foundation with administration provided by Jackson Hole Public Art. Willow Grove is owned and maintained by the Town of Jackson.
Jeffrey Lockwood, Professor of Natural Sciences and Humanities at the University of Wyoming, collaborated with local animator Ouree Lee in 2021 to create an Augmented Reality story that now accompanies Willow Grove via the Hoverlay app. This playful animation (linked above) reminds us that plants are living pharmacies! Project sponsored by Wyoming Humanities and Jackson Hole Public Art.
