Press Release: 2023 WildWalls: Artist Opportunity

Jackson, WY: Jackson Hole Public Art seeks submissions for temporary wheat paste murals for WildWalls 2023. WildWalls is an annual event during which local artists transform Jackson’s downtown streetscape into an open-air gallery from late May through September. Artists are asked to respond to current research from the Greater Yellowstone Ecosystem (GYE) with support from collaborating nonprofit organizations, creating cutting-edge visual works that engage the public and spark wonder.

Now in its fourth summer, WildWalls brings the art and science communities together in a highly visual, interactive, and educational event – it is an art show without the confines of a traditional venue, making it accessible to thousands of people daily. WildWalls 2023 will highlight important pollinator-related conservation work happening in the GYE, including the important role that humans play in managing the spread of invasive species to ensure that pollinators are spreading native plant species.

Artists living within the GYE are invited to apply and can participate in one of two ways:

  1. Submit a high-resolution image that closely aligns with a specific conservation organization’s theme to be reproduced as a temporary wheat paste mural.

  2. Submit a high-resolution image that prominently features one or more pollinators to be reproduced as a temporary wheat paste mural.

Commission: $500

Please visit the JH Public Art website here for the full RFP and for more details about the information session for all open calls on Wednesday, March 8th, at 5pm. JH Public Art seeks murals that are inspiring, eye-catching, and that add to the beauty of the built environment. The deadline for all submissions is March 24, 2023.
