Press Release: New Community Artists Hired
Jackson, WY: Jackson Hole Public Art has created a new position - the Community Artist (CoArtist) - and has hired Nathaniel Hagood and Nicole Spahn to begin jointly working in this role next month. The CoArtist(s) will be responsible for interacting with the community to create temporary public-built art projects. Find them offering free (and fun!) art making activities for all ages this summer and fall in public spaces, often partnering with other local organizations to further their outreach missions. If you are a local artist or a local organization with an idea for a creative community project, please contact Carrie Geraci at carrie@jhpublicart.org.
JH Public Art is thrilled to have not one but two Community Artists joining our team. In the past we have had artists on staff, including Bland Hoke and Cal Brackin, and now more than ever, we felt it was important to bring the joy of collective art-making to Jackson Hole. The CoArtists will expand on our popular summer ArtMobile programs with additional creative offerings in the spirit of whole community collaboration. – Carrie Geraci, Executive Director
Nathaniel (Natty) Hagood has assisted on many recent JH Public Art projects, including Thomas Dambo’s giant Troll in R Park and the ArtSpot’s Puzzling Escape. He is also a volunteer ski patrolman, youth leader, firefighter, and ski instructor. Nicole (Nikki) Spahn is a creative artist and photographer, based out of Teton Valley, Idaho. With a Masters in Fine Arts, Nikki is passionate about art and the environment and has experience leading group art projects. This new, official CoArtist role has been made possible through the generous support of a select few individual donors. Look out for the CoArtist at JH Public Art and community events this summer and visit www.jhpublicart.org for whereabouts and schedules.
