Press Release: Artist Announced for Teton County/Jackson Recreation Wellness Center Public Art
Jackson, WY: Stacia Goodman has been selected to create a mosaic art installation in the Teton County/Jackson Recreation Center Expansion Project, scheduled to open late spring of 2024. Goodman will work with the local youth to design an engaging mosaic for the new lobby that highlights the unique aspects of our geographical location and the ecological and human communities that inhabit Teton County.
Goodman’s attention to detail and expertise with mosaics, desire to design interactive works, ideas for upcycling materials, and enthusiasm for working with the community to create a successful, site-specific piece all contributed to her selection. A panel of community stakeholders and Teton County/Jackson Recreation Center employees reviewed over 120 qualifications and narrowed the pool to five finalists before choosing Goodman.
Using the ancient medium of mosaics in a modern way, Goodman’s creations are a conduit for sharing inspiring, honest stories unique to place, people and culture, with dozens of projects in diverse spaces across the United States, including Stanford University Children’s Hospital and the Minneapolis St. Paul International Airport.
Goodman enthusiastically accepted the project, stating, “I’m really excited to work with Jackson on this project. It has all the elements of what great public art should be — telling an inclusive local story, community engagement, upcycling materials and more.”
The commissioned artwork will welcome visitors, celebrate the benefits of living an active and healthy lifestyle, inspire physical activity, and create a sense of community wellbeing and connectedness.
