Public Art Opportunity for the New Justice Center
JACKSON, WYOMING, September 5, 2025 / Teton County has announced a call for artists to create a significant public artwork for the new Teton County Justice Center, located one block south of Jackson’s historic Town Square. This opportunity invites professional artists nationwide to apply for the commission, which includes a suspended interior artwork in the Justice Center’s stairwell and the potential for a complementary outdoor sculpture.
With a commission budget of up to $125,000, the project will stand as a permanent symbol of justice, fairness, and community identity, pride, and stewardship in Jackson Hole. The artwork should embody civic ideals such as access to justice, upholding the rule of law, humanity, inclusivity, mutual respect, and community safety, while connecting visually to Jackson’s alpine setting and the Justice Center’s modern mountain and sustainable architecture.
“This Justice Center will serve as a cornerstone of civic life for generations to come,” said Carrie Geraci, Executive Director of Jackson Hole Public Art. “We are seeking an artist whose vision reflects both the strength of our judicial system and the humanity at the heart of our community.”
The Justice Center will bring together multiple county and state services, including the 9th District Court, Circuit Court, Clerk of Court, Teton County and Prosecuting Attorney, the Sheri ’s O ice, Dispatch, and Detention Center. Designed to be efficient, sustainable, and enduring, the building draws inspiration from Jackson’s mountain heritage while serving as a symbol of safety, justice, and civic responsibility.
